Dry Cupping
What is dry cupping?
Dry cupping is a manual therapy that involves positioning a cup on the skin and creating a vacuum to apply negative pressure. This negative pressure increases blood flow to the area. It utilises a system involving a cup and manual hand pump which creates the negative pressure once the cup is applied.
Cupping can help relieve muscle tension and tightness, and anyone with pain, stiffness or breathing problems
Cupping works well in conjunction with other therapies such as sports and remedial massage, dry needling and joint mobilisation.
What are the side effects of cupping?
Cupping frequently causes cupping marks on the skin. This is due to bringing blood to the surface. The marks from cupping can last for a few days up to 2 weeks.
